About Me

When I first found out that I was pregnant, I was terrified. It was not planned.  And although my boyfriend and I had been together for 5 years, we were not expecting kids just yet…We had talked about it, but never planned it.

So many things were running through my head, but mainly I thought to myself, we are NOT ready. Luckily Kyle was onboard and supportive right away! He knew I was terrified, and he knew what to say “This will be fun! I hope its a boy!” So he was right by my side at the first ultrasound, holding my hand tightly, when the ultrasound tech said “I have a surprise for you.” in a not-so-excited tone of voice.

Oh GREAT!  I knew it…I’m a twin, and although I had heard that twins “skip a generation” there were clearly two blobs on

the screen.  WE CANNOT DO THIS!! When we got home we talked about our options (for days!!), and Kyle convinced me that we could do this, we could start a family! Why not? But how?

Double everything. Obviously I have to breastfeed (we can’t afford formula for 2!), but is it even possible to breastfeed two babies? Am I going to need to see a specialist? I’ve heard pregnancies are tough, but I’m gonna have two!? Am I going to have to get rid of my truck? Do I have to eat more or differently because there’s two in there? Vaginal birth or C-section? Do I have to quit my job? Am I going to have to be a stay at home mom? Child care is so expensive, imagine for two! But if I stay home, how will we ever make enough money to survive? Oh my god so many questions!!

Well I’m here for you. I am no expert. But I have been through it, and I would love to share my experience with you, and reassure you that, YOU CAN DO IT!

Schaefer FamilyMy name is Amelia, I am married to a wonderful man named Kyle, and we have a large “family”!  Currently our clan includes: Myself, Kyle, Konnor, Logan, Hodor, Meera, and Meowzers.

Konnor is our first born from our identical twins.  He is currently just over a year old, he loves animals and loves snuggling.  Logan is our baby B, he is also just over a year old and loves exploring and making messes!

Hodor is our first “baby”, she is an ornery stubborn little kittie who used to be the Queen of the Castle, and is fairly tolerant of our little monsters.  Meera is a mutt puppy that we found on the street. Our best guess is that she is a doberman-whippet mix and she is WONDERFUL with the boys (except for the constant licking, but we’re working on that).  Meowzers is our “big guy”.  Our friends in New Mexico found a full grown Siamese cat on their porch one morning, so they fed him, and he just kept on coming back. When they moved to Tennessee they could not bring him along, but they wanted to make sure that he was still cared for. So we moved him to our street to be the neighborhood cat (don’t worry, we made sure he was fixed and has all of his shots!).  When we decided to move back home to Washington, we could not leave him behind, Kyle had fallen in love with him.

Kyle is my “big kid” and I love him to death.  I could not survive without him.  He is my best friend, my true love, and my partner in all things. He loves snowmobiling, camping, firearms, woodworking, welding, home-brewing, metal work, leather work, and working on cars.

Mighty MommaAnd then there is me, my hobby is collecting hobbies.  I enjoy so many things! And have so little time.  Some of the hobbies that I have collected include: camping, hiking, backpacking, snowmobiling, sewing, wood-turning, working on cars, home-brewing, cheese making, leather work, organizing, carving, and Netflix-ing (is that a thing?).

I am looking forward to hearing from you. Please feel free to get in touch via the form below, I will get back to you as soon as possible.
